BirthJul 1839 Mary McCoy was born in Jul 1839 in Virginia.2 
Cens-18703 Aug 1870 Mary did not marry, but as early as 1870 she was working as a milliner in the town of Lanark. She was enumerated that year as the head of a household consisting of three women, all milliners.3 
Cens-18807 Jun 1880  Ten years later she was still living in Lanark and providing a home for her sister Lavinia and her uncle Mathew Davis.4 
Cens-19001900 Twenty years later Mary was again listed as the head of the household, which by now included not only her sister Lavinia but also her widowed younger sister Sarah and her three children. Mary's nephew was working in town as a butcher, and her nieces were working in shops. Mary herself described her occupation as "nursing" which may have referred more to her role in the family than to a professional career. The family residence in Lanark was on Franklin Street.2 
Cens-191018 Apr 1910  Ten years later the three sisters, all in their late sixties or early seventies, were still together on Franklin Street, but the young people were no longer present.5 
Death10 Mar 1915 Mary died on 10 Mar 1915 at age 75.6 
Burial She was buried at Lanark Cemetery in Lanark, Carroll County, Illinois.6
