Birth19 Feb 1893 Mary Ella Elizabeth Crenshaw was born on 19 Feb 1893 in Washington County, Virginia. The family knew her as "Molly."5
Cens-Sum  Mary was enumerated living in her father's household in all census records currently available for research (up to 1930). The family lived in the Saltville District of Washington County, Virginia. In 1910 the address was described as Chestnut Ridge Road. In 1920 it was listed as "Crenshaw and Foster" Rd. The 1920 enumeration listed Mary's occupation as "high school teacher". Her 2 younger sisters were also similarily employed. In 1930 Mary's occupation was more specifically described as that of a teacher at an art school.3,6,7,8
This 1930 enumeration appears to indicate that Mary was still living at home whereas she may have only been visiting for the summer. In reality she was an art teacher at Louisiana College in Pinevllle, Louisiana. Mary had previously attended college at Columbia University.9
Neither Mary or her sister Grace married. After they retired (Grace taught math at Averett College in Danville, Virginia) the sisters lived together back in Washington County.
Death22 Nov 1987 Mary died on 22 Nov 1987 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 94.5
Burial She was buried at Mountain View Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.5
