Cens-19206 Jan 1920  Beulah and Arthur were enumerated on the 1920 census for the Saltville District of Washington County. Arthur [enumerated as Hopkins Hawthorne] was listed as a farmer. The family lived in a home they were renting on the Shortsville Road. Also listed in the household were the following children: Beulah [enumerated as Eular], (28), Beatrice (9), Margaret (6), Arthur (3) and James (7 months).6 
  They were probably enumerated living in a historic home (built in 1848) purchased a few years earlier by Beulah's older brother George. Arthur and Beulah resided in the home from about 1919 to 1923.7 
Cens-19304 Apr 1930 However, by 1930 they lived in Bristol, Virginia where Arthur worked as a building contractor. The couple owned their own home at 714 Piedmont [?] Avenue. It was valued at $10,000. Four children were also enumerated: Margaret (16), Arthur (13), James (10) and John (6).8 
  Their eldest daughter, Beatrice Virginia, died in 1922 at age 11.9 
  Family members remember Beulah as an excellent homemaker.7 
Death14 Nov 1961 Beulah died on 14 Nov 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee, at age 70.5 
Burial She was buried at Mountain View Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.5
