Milit-RegJun 1917  John registered for the World War I draft at the registrar's office in Meadowview, Virginia. He stated that he was a merchant employed by Ritchie Vance and Co. John was described by the registrar as of medium height and slender build with blue eyes and light brown hair.1 
Marriage5 Nov 1917 He married Lula Graham on 5 Nov 1917 in Washington County, Virginia.6,3 
Military  John subsequently served in World War I.7 
Cens-1930Apr 1930  John and Lula lived in in Meadowview (Washington County) in 1930. They owned their own home which was valued at $5,000. John's occupation was described as "merchant" and the type of business was listed as "hardware store."8 
Death7 Jul 1960 John died on 7 Jul 1960 at age 72.9 
Burial He was buried at Mountain View Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.9
