Asa Crenshaw was listed as James's step-son-in-law. He was 24 and was employed as a ship caulker at the shipyard. Gertrude Crenshaw was also enumerated. She was 22 and described as James's stepdaughter. She had not given birth to any children.6 |

He was killed in a fall from a roller coaster while attempting to check on some children in the car behind him. He may have been in Southern California at the time visiting a Panama Canal Exposition.5,8,9 |
