Birth14 Feb 1886 Asa Crenshaw was born on 14 Feb 1886 in Washington County, Virginia.5 
Cens-190013 Jun 1900  Asa was enumerated in his parent's household in the Saltville District of Washington County, Virginia, in 1900. However, he was erroneously recorded as a daughter.3 
Marriagecirca 1909 He married Gertie Rogers circa 1909 in Brooklyn, New York.1,6,2 
Cens-191022 Apr 1910 The 1910 enumeration found Asa and Gertie living in the burrough of Brooklyn in New York City. They were living in the home of James Gibbons [?] and his wife Catherine. Asa Crenshaw was listed as James's step-son-in-law. He was 24 and was employed as a ship caulker at the shipyard. Gertrude Crenshaw was also enumerated. She was 22 and described as James's stepdaughter. She had not given birth to any children.6 
  However she would have been pregnant with daughter Catherine, born about 6 weeks after the census taker's visit. 
  A family tradition is that Asa worked on the construction of the Panama Canal.7 
Death31 May 1915 Asa died on 31 May 1915 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, at age 29. He was killed in a fall from a roller coaster while attempting to check on some children in the car behind him. He may have been in Southern California at the time visiting a Panama Canal Exposition.5,8,9 
Burial He was buried at Mountain View Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.5
