BirthOct 1838 Elizabeth Scott was born in Oct 1838 in Virginia.4
Marriage2 Feb 1870 She married Frank John Shaver on 2 Feb 1870 in Washington County, Virginia. Elizabeth was 31; Frank was 36.2
Frank was a resident of Atchison County, Missouri at the time of the couple's marriage and they returned there to settle on a farm in Tarkio township. Elizabeth gave birth to 4 children, 3 of whom were alive in 1880. The couple also provided a home for Charles Scott [the son of Elizabeth's deceased brother William].2,5
Legatee12 Jul 1883  Elizabeth's aunt, Sarah Edmondson, wrote her will in the summer of 1883, leaving Elizabeth $50, but none of Sarah's personal property.6
Legatee1885  Elizabeth's father wrote his will in 1885, leaving her 1/6 of his estate after specific gifts were made (including $200 to Elizabeth's daughter Mattie to be used for her education). The will also included the following, "Bettie Shaver is to be charged with $54 without interest which her husband got of my money from Wyndham & Frank Robertson... in no event is it to be paid to her husband or to be in any way liable for his debts."3
Elizabeth and Frank left Missouri prior to 1900 and settled just across the state line in Fremont County, Iowa. There the couple owned their own home in the community of Hamburg where Frank was employed as a driver for the Star Route [a postal delivery route served by a private contractor]. As late as 1910 their two youngest daughters (Myrtle and Mattie) were single and living at home. Myrtle worked in a dry goods store and Mattie taught school.4,7
After Frank's death in 1915 Elizabeth made her home in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, with Mattie who had married abt 1915 but been widowed within a few years. The 2 women shared a home at 1411 McConnell Ave. Mattie was the mother of a 2 year old daughter (also named Elizabeth).8
Elizabeth's younger sister Malissa also lived in Portsmouth. At some point prior to Malissa's death in 1922 the 2 sisters were joined by their sister Mary Jane and the 3 women posed for a photo in a Portsmouth Studio (a 4th sister died in 1888).9
Deathbefore 1930  Elizabeth most likely died prior to 1930 as Mattie was enumerated that year in the house on McConnell Ave. without her mother. In addition to Mattie the household included her 13 year old daughter Elizabeth and her 49 year old cousin Robert Ryan [son of Malissa Scott Ryan].10
