BirthCircacirca 1849 John L. Worley was born in Virginia circa 1849.1 
Childhood John spent the early years of his childhood in Washington County, Virginia. His father died when he was an infant and he was raised by his mother's second husband, James Clark.1,2 
Migration In the late 1860s the family migrated west, settling in Warren township, Marion County, Missouri. 
Cens-187013 Aug 1870  John helped his stepfather on the family farm, but also owned land himself, which was valued at $750 in 1870.3 
Cens-188019 Jun 1880  However, Missouri must not have agreed with John. By 1880 he had returned to Virginia and was living with his aunt and uncle, David and Sarah Campbell back in Washington County.4
