Birth22 Aug 1809 Robert D. Moffett was born on 22 Aug 1809 in Washington County, Virginia.3 
MigrationOct 1831  In October, 1831 Robert accompanied his brother Garner and his new wife, Mary Jane on their journey west to Indiana. Later deed records suggest the two brothers had purchased land near each other in Hancock County.4 
1835  In the spring of 1834 Garner moved further north to LaPorte County; Robert did not join him although he visited later that year. And in the fall of 1835 when Garner decided to explore land in Illinois Robert again accompanied his brother but did not make the move himself.5 
Land-Sell1836  In 1836 Robert Moffett "of Rush County" sold 160 acres of land in Hancock County to James Martin of Philadelphia for $1,500.6 
Occupation  Robert had apparently settled in neighboring Rush County where he briefly taught school.7 
Occupation He also was the first physician in Center township (Rush County).8 
Marriage11 Jul 1839 He married Elizabeth Jane Culbertson on 11 Jul 1839 in Rush County, Indiana.1,9 
Tax1842  Interestingly, in 1842 Robert still appeared on the tax rolls for Hancock County where he was taxed on several pieces of property.10 
DeathMar 1844 Robert died in Mar 1844 at age 34.11 
Aug 1844  In August 1844 Elizabeth married Dr. Abner Dillon. 
Probate RecdMay 1849  Robert's final settlement record was filed at the May 1849 term of the Rush County court. Samuel Culbertson and William Moffett administered the estate and posted a $3,000 bond. The inventory was very detailed and included many medical items such as syringes, castor oil bottles, tincture bottles, forceps, etc., as well as many medical books. There were also many household items such as Windsor chairs, beds and bedding, a rocking char, a writing desk and a chart of the United States.12
