Cens-187030 Sep 1870  The 1870 census found 3 year old Henderson living with his parents in the household of 65 year old Jonas Smith [his grandfather] in Glade Spring Township, Washington County, Virginia.7 
Cens-188018 Jun 1880  Ten years later Henderson (enumerated by his middle names as "Stuart") and his parents were again recorded as members of his grandparent's household. However, this time the location in Washington County was described as the Saltville district. Henderson's 4 siblings were also recorded in the home.8 
Marriage13 Apr 1896 He married Rose Stribling Allison, daughter of Robert Clark Allison and Rebecca Jane Clark, on 13 Apr 1896 in Washington County, Virginia.3,9 
Cens-191028 Apr 1910 In 1910 Henderson and Rose resided in the Lipps District of Wise County, Virginia, where Henderson (enumerated as "H. Stewart") was a physician in the coal fields. The couple had two children, 13 year old Allison and 9 year old Mary.10 
Cens-19208 Jan 1920  By 1920 the family had returned to Washington County.1 
Cens-193011 Apr 1930  However they moved once again, this time settling in Low More, a small community in rural Allegheny County, Virginia. From this home base Henderson again practiced medicine among the miners in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia.2 
Death21 Feb 1947 Henderson died on 21 Feb 1947.11,5 
Burial He was buried at Smyth's Chapel Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4,5
