Marriage23 Dec 1858 He married Martha Harvey Allison, daughter of William Beattie Allison and Mary Clark, on 23 Dec 1858 in Washington County, Virginia. He was a widower from Amelia County.3,1 
Contract Benjamin and Martha are purported to have signed a contract before their marriage protecting Martha's inherited property.4 
Residence This included a lot in Glade Spring whose dwelling house still stands.3 
Cens-Sum  Here they were enumerated on a series of census records which also clarified that Benjamin worked as a blacksmith.5,6,7 
Public Serv  He also served on the first Glade Spring town council in 1875.8 
 Benjamin and Martha did not have children of their own, however Martha adopted her nephew Abram Greenfield Allison.3 
Death6 Jun 1896 Benjamin died of dropsy on 6 Jun 1896 in Washington County, Virginia.2
