Birth21 Mar 1818 John Buchanan Davis was born on 21 Mar 1818 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
Childhood John spent his childhood in Washington County, Virginia. After his father's death in 1842, John, his mother, and his younger siblings moved to Caroll County, Illinois where several of his siblings had already settled. 
  He did not marry.3 
Death10 Apr 1845 John died on 10 Apr 1845 of cancer of the head in Carroll County, Illinois, at age 27.4,5 
Probate RecdMay 1845  Shortly after his death, John's mother wrote a letter asking that Garner Moffett be appointed as administrator of John's estate. Garner posted bond on May 5th, 1845.6 
Burial8 Oct 1881  John was initially buried in Wolfe Cemetery, a burial ground on a neighbor's property. He was reinterred on 8 Oct 1881 in Lanark Cemetery, Lanark, Carroll County, Illinois, along with his mother and two brothers.5,7
