Cens-192013 Jan 1920 By 1920 Walter and Bertie had been married several years and had two children, Allen and Nannie.5 
  A second daughter, born prematurely in April 1918, lived just a few hours. Beside their own children, Walter and Bertie also raised Ben Ryburn, Jr., whose father, Bennie Newton Ryburn, had been raised as a sibling of Walter McNew.6,7,8 
Cens-19303 Apr 1930  Five year old Bennie appears to have been enumerated with Walter and Bertie in 1930 (he is listed as Billie McNew, age 5, nephew), as were their own 2 teenage children. Walter's brother, William McNew was also working on the family dairy farm.9
