Birth12 Jan 1852 Louisa R. Susong was born on 12 Jan 1852.4,5 
Cens-188012 Jan 1880 Louisa did not marry, but spent her adult life living with her parents in the Goodson District of Washington County, Virginia. She was enumerated in their household in 1880, at age 26. An elderly aunt and uncle (her father's siblings) were also in the home.2 
Will21 Jul 1896 Louisa wrote her will ten days before her death in July 1896. She left her sister Minerva Robinson her one third interest in a house and lot in Abingdon known as the J. F. Jones property, as well as $4,000 cash. Louisa left her sister Nannie B. Delaney her one third interest in a tract of land near the town of Meadowview containing 75 acres and known as the William C. Edmondson property, as well as $2,000 cash. She left her brother James B. Susong her one fifth interest in the estate of Jacob H. Susong, deceased, as well as $2,000. If any property remained after these legacies were met, it was to go to Louisa's mother and father (who both died a few months after Lousia). She closed the will by naming her brother-in-law, John R. Robinson, as her executor. Interestingly, she did not mention her other living brother, Jacob O. Susong in her will.6 
Death31 Jul 1896 Louisa died on 31 Jul 1896 at age 44 of consumption.3,4 
Burial She was buried at Susong Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4 
Probate Recd18 Nov 1896 The settlement of Louisa's estate, recorded on November 18th, 1896 in Washington County, listed assets of cash, bonds, notes, and personal property amounting to over $12,000.7 
Probate Recd25 Feb 1901 A final settlement, filed on 25 Feb 1901 recorded $1,696.70 received from J.O. Susong and an identical amount paid to James B. Susong.8

  1. [S714] Jacob H. Susong will (recorded 1894), Washington Co., Virginia Will Book 25: 42. Jacob's will was written on July 30th, 1891 and witnessed by John Keys and E. H. Seneker. He left his estate to the children of his brother, Mahlon Susong and named them as such: Nancy B. Delany, James B. Susong, Louisa R. Susong, Minerva J. Robinson and Jacob O. Susong. Jacob was appointed executor. The will was recorded in court on August 27, 1894 with Jacob posting a bond of $30,000.
