BirthMay 1895 Sarah Katharine Hutton was born in May 1895 in Virginia.2 
Sep 1910  Sarah was the youngest daughter in a family of 6 children. Her mother died in Sept. 1910, at which time Sarah was 15. 
Education  Sarah graduated from Stonewell Jackson College in Abindgdon with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then received a Master's degree from Hollins College at Roanoke.5 
Cens-192022 Jan 1920  In 1920 Sarah was enumerated at home with her father and his second wife, Ruby. Sarah was teaching school. The household also included Sarah's brother, James, a 5 year old half-sister (also named Ruby) and a 2 year old nephew, Frank [son of Sarah's older brother Francis whose wife was deceased].6 
Residence  The family resided on Main Street in Abingdon where Sarah's father practiced law and served as a judge.7 
Occupation  By 1924 Sarah lived in Jackson, Mississippi where she taught at Bell Haven College.5 
  Sarah's uncle Rev. James B. Hutton and his family also lived in Jackson. 
Marriage She married James LLoyd.8 
 Sarah's father died in 1928. Sarah and James then raised Sarah's nephew Frank.8 
Cens-19308 Apr 1930  In April 1930 the 13 year old was enumerated in Jackson with James and Sarah. James worked as a sales manager while Sarah taught school.9
