BirthCircacirca 1812 Ann W. Hayter was born circa 1812.2
Marriage2 Jun 1835 She married Herbert M. Ledbetter on 2 Jun 1835 in Washington County, Virginia.3
Cens-18509 Oct 1850  Ann and Herbert lived in Abingdon where Herbert was employed as a house carpenter. Their 1850 household included children James and Dorcas as well as two young adult men who also listed their occupation as house carpenter. Additionally, a Hubbard Ledbetter was listed after 2 year old Dorcas Ledbetter. Hubbard's age is difficult to interpret but appears to be "2."4
This may be the same person as the child "Herbert" whose stone in Hayter Cemetery is reported to read: Herbert A.E. Ledbetter, son of H.M. & A.W. Ledbetter, d. age 8y 9m.5
Ann and Herbert were also the parents of stillborn twins whose birth/death date was not recorded on their shared headstone at Hayter Cemetery.6
Death1856  Although a 1937 reading of Ann's headstone reports that she died on Jan 21, 1856 it is likely the date was actually Jun 21. The headstone for Ann's youngest child, Mary, reports her birth as May 8, 1856. Ann's stone was apparently not readable in the 1960s when the Hayter Cemetery was reread for High On A Windy Hill.2
Burial Ann was buried at Hayter Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.2
