Cens-190018 Jun 1900  The family appears to have moved to North Carolina shortly thereafter. In 1900 they resided in High Point township of Guilford County. The household included John and Margaret's 5 children who ranged in age from 18 year old Samuel to 8 year old Minnie. John was employed as a carpenter as was his son Samuel. Research Comment:

The William Buchanan Bible lists William's children and selected grandchildren, including a child Joseph Franklin Montgomery who was born in late November 1880 and died in 1882. The Bible does not clarify his parents which is somewhat problematic since two of William's daughters married Montgomery men.

However, given that Joseph was born 9-10 months after Margaret Buchanan and John Montgomery's marriage, but not quite 2 months after Amanda Buchanan and George Montgomery's marriage, and given that Margaret and John's 1900 census entry indicates there was a 6th child who died, I have included Joseph as John and Margaret's son.
