Marriage5 Sep 1811 She married John Beattie, son of William Beattie and Mary Allison, on 5 Sep 1811 in Washington County, Virginia.6 
Migration Sarah and John left Virginia and settled in Pulaski County, Kentucky, where they raised at least 8 children. John's brother James settled in Pulaski County about the same time. 
Cens-Sum  Sarah and John were recorded on the 1850 and 1860 federal census enumerations for Pulaski County. They were probably living on land deeded to John by his father Willam shortly after the couple moved to Kentucky. Prior to the Civil War as many as 18 slaves helped John run the farm.7,8,9 
  The household in 1850 included 5 of the couple's children: sons William and Campbell (33 and 28) were employed as coal traders; son Fountain had recently returned from a trip to the California gold fields while the two youngest children, Emiline and Florence, were 19 and 14, respectively.

Missing was the couple's eldest daughter Eliza who had married in 1838 but died a few years later leaving an infant son. Daughter Mary had married in 1841. And son Robert lived in the town of Somerset where he had established himself as a merchant. 
Widowed1 Mar 1861  John died on 1 Mar 1861. 
Court Record21 Oct 1861 On 21 Oct 1861 the Pulaski County court assigned Sarah 140 acres as her dower share of John's land. She also received 5 slaves.10 
Death23 Dec 1868 Sarah died on 23 Dec 1868 at age 78.4 
Burial She was buried at Pisgah Church Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.5,4

William Edmiston of Washington Co., Virginia; entries in handwriting of John Marshall Dickenson (b. 1855), a 2nd great grandson of Col. Edmiston through the line of his son Thomas. The source of the information is not noted.

Draper, dated Feb. 17, 1881; Draper Manuscript Collection, Series DD (King's Mountain Papers Vol 14-15), compiled by Lyman Draper (1815-1891), item 14DD65. William Lowry, in response to a request from Mr. Draper for information on William Edmiston, contacted Wm C. Edmondson [Col. Edmiston's grandson] who provided Mr. Lowry with a list of Col. Edmiston's children (1 list for each of his two wives), as well as each child's year of birth. Mr. Lowry noted that the information was from the Family Bible Record of Maj. [later Col.] Wm Edmiston.

Entries copied by May (Mrs. Harry) Dunn of Tulsa, OK. probably between 1930 and 1950. The list is now held by Mrs. Dunn's descendants. The location of the original Bible is not known.
