Birth10 Oct 1844 Noah Lewis Maiden was born on 10 Oct 1844 in Washington County, Virginia.2 
  Noah was the only one of his siblings born after his parents made the move from Botetourt County to what would become known as the Maiden Creek area of Washington County. A few years after the move Noah's mother died. Noah was 5 1/2 at the time. 
Childhood  Noah's remaining childhood years were spent in his father's household with 1 or more of his older brothers.4,5 
Ward26 May 1862  Noah's father died in May 1862 and a few days later Noah's next older brother Morgan was named his guardian.1 
Military  Noah, like several of his older brothers, served in the 48th Virginia Infantry during the Civil War. He may have been wounded at Gettysburg in July 1863. Noah lost his left arm below the elbow as a result of fighting during the Battle of the Wilderness in May 1864.6,7,8,2 
Education  Following the war Noah attended Emory and Henry College as did his older brother George. 
Marriage1 Jul 1866 He married Emma Leckie, daughter of Edgar Leckie, on 1 Jul 1866.9 
Cens-Sum  Noah and Emma had 2 daughters who were born in Virginia in the first few years after their marriage. They then headed west to Greene County, Missouri where they spent some years in Cass township and Robberson township. Noah pursued a career as a teacher. In 1881 the family moved to Barry County, Missouri where Noah continued to teach and serve in administrative rolls. Noah and Emma had 7 children together although daughter Fannie died before 1900.10,11,2 
Death20 Apr 1900 Noah died on 20 Apr 1900 in Barry County, Missouri, at age 55. He had fallen from his horse, broken his hip and developed pneumonia.2 
Burial He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Barry County, Missouri.12
