Marriage3 Dec 1862 She married Samuel Landis Maiden, son of John Maiden and Susanna Landis, on 3 Dec 1862 in Washington County, Virginia.1,4 
3 Dec 1862 She was 35 and he was 37. 
  Samuel's first wife had died the previous January, leaving him with several small childen to raise.  
Cens-188014 Jun 1880  By 1880 the only child from Samuel's first marriage still at home was his daughter Mary. However Samuel and Sarah's children Minnie (13) and Jessee (5) no doubt kept the house lively [Samuel and Sarah also had a daughter born in 1869 who died in 1870]. Samuel and Sarah were both in their early 50s in 1880, Sarah having been in her late 40s when Jessee was born.5 
WidowedApr 1896  Samuel died in April 1896. 
Milit-Pens26 May 1902  On May 26, 1900 Sarah filed for a Civil War widow's pension based on Samuel's service during the war. She was living at Glenford in Washington County at the time. In May 1902 she completed a supplementary form which stated among other things that she was not listed on the county real and personal property tax rolls. The witnesses to this second form were George E. Butt and Robert F. Caldwell. Sarah signed both the original and the supplemental forms with an X.4 
Burial She was buried at Maiden Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.3
