  They were first cousins, once removed.  
Will22 Oct 1826 Moses wrote his will on 22 Oct 1826 in Washingon County. It mentioned wife Joanna, sons Hastings, Mathew, John, James, Philip and daughters Margaret, Elizabeth and Jane [all Buchanan]; also brother William and youngest child Moses Campbell Buchanan. The witnesses were James Edmondson and Samuel Edmondson. As no executor was named Joanna Buchanan was appointed administratrix. She posted bond in the amount of $5,000 with William Buchanan, John Katron, Robert Keys and James Edmondson providing security.1 
Death8 Apr 1827 Moses died on 8 Apr 1827.3 
Burial He was buried at Moore Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.3
