MotherMartha (?)1
Marriage4 Oct 1792 Moses Buchanan married second Margaret Edmiston on 4 Oct 1792 in Washington County, Virginia.3
Little is known about Margaret Edmiston. Was she a widow at the time of her marriage to Moses? She was clearly not his first wife based on the ages of his children.
Will2 Jan 1823  Moses wrote his will on January 2nd, 1823. He left wife Margaret the use of the third of the land as well as the use of all of his personal property during her lifetime. At her death it was to go to his son Moses. He also specified 2 tracts of land that were to descend to son Moses. The will was witnessed by James Edmondson and John Reed and proved in court on their oaths on May 20th, 1823. As no executor had been named the court appointed Moses Buchanan [son] as administrator.4

Research Comment:

I have not researched this family extensively and have only confirmed sons Moses and William through my own research. Some researchers list sons Andrew and David in addition to those included below. There are many deed records for Moses, both in the early Fincastle and Washington County records, which need to be examined in detail.
