Devisee22 Oct 1826  Moses Buchanan wrote his will in October, 1826. He left Hastin his grist and saw mill with 2 acres of land. Hastin and his brother Mathew were to live on the farm and work the mill applying the profits to the support of the family until they turned 21.2 
Marriage22 Mar 1830 Hastin Buchanan married Rebecca Carson, daughter of David Carson and Mary Debusk, on 22 Mar 1830 in Virginia.1 
  Hastin and Rebecca left Virginia after their marriage and headed west, spending time in Indiana before settling in Fayette County, Illinois. They were the parents of 8 children.1 
Deathbefore Feb 1858 Hastin died before Feb 1858 as his mother's will refers to the heirs of her son "Hestin."2,3

It mentioned wife Joanna, sons Hastings, Mathew, John, James, Philip and daughters Margaret, Elizabeth and Jane (Buchanan); also brother William and youngest child Moses Campbell Buchanan. The witnesses were James Edmondson and Samuel Edmondson. As no executor was named Joanna Buchanan was appt administrix. She posted bond in the amt of $5,000 with William Buchanan, John Katron, Robert Keys and James Edmondson providing security.
