- [S618] Moses Buchanan will (exhibited 21 June 1827/ 17 Jul. 1827), Washington Co., Virginia, Will Book 5: 356. The will was written 22 Oct. 1826. It mentioned wife Joanna, sons Hastings, Mathew, John, James, Philip and daughters Margaret, Elizabeth and Jane (Buchanan); also brother William and youngest child Moses Campbell Buchanan. The witnesses were James Edmondson and Samuel Edmondson. As no executor was named Joanna Buchanan was appt administrix. She posted bond in the amt of $5,000 with William Buchanan, John Katron, Robert Keys and James Edmondson providing security.
