Birth4 Aug 1887 Conrad Graham Gardner was born on 4 Aug 1887 near Granbury in Hood County, Texas.1,2
Name Other  He sometimes went by "Pete."1
Conrad was the youngest of his parent's 8 children. Conrad stayed on the farm and assisted his father through at least 1910. Later he spent some time living in Sentinel, Washita County, Oklahoma, where he worked for a phone company and also farmed.1
Cens-192019 Jan 1920  By 1920 Conrad had settled back in Texas where he worked as a lineman for the telephone company in Montague County. Conrad's brother David managed the phone company.3
Marriage He married Christine Crain.1,4
Cens-193018 Apr 1930  Conrad and Christine made their home with Christine's parents (Dr. Newell and Lelia Crain) in the town of Nocona in Montague County. Christine's father was a doctor and the family home was one of the most expensive in the small town. The 1930 census indicated that two servants helped the family. Conrad continued to work for the telephone company although his position in 1930 was listed as "commercial traveler" [salesman]. Oddly, Conrad's census entry gave his age as 39 [he was 42] and also stated he was first married at age 27. Yet his 1920 census entry listed him as single. The entry for Christina's age at first marriage on the 1930 census was left blank.4
Later Conrad and Christine may have lived in Ohio as Conrad's social security number was issued from that state.5
Conrad and Christine did not have children.1
Death5 Feb 1980 Conrad died on 5 Feb 1980 in Nocona, Montague County, Texas, at age 92.1
Burial He was buried at Nocona Cemetery.6
