Cens-18505 Nov 1850  Rebecca and Samuel spent the first several years of their married life in Madison County. There they were enumerated in late 1850 with William, age 4, and a newborn daughter named Martha. Their farm was near that of Granville Criner [Rebecca's father].3 
Migration In the mid 1850s the family left Alabama and migrated to Texas, renting land in Hill County for a year when they first arrived.1 
Residence They then settled in Johnson County. There were few settlers there at the time but by 1892 the couple owned 700 acres of land.1,5 
Cens-18605 Jun 1860 The 1860 census was the first to record them in Johnson County. Samuel was 37. He was enumerated as a farmer whose land was valued at $2,100. He owned personal property worth $600. Rebecca was 32. Granville Criner was enumerated as the adjacent household suggesting that he probably moved from Alabama to Texas with Samuel and Rebecca (or vice versa).6 
Cens-18808 Jun 1880  By 1880 Samuel and Rebecca's children had all left home however a niece Mary Gib__ was living with them.7 
Death4 Jan 1904 Rebecca died on 4 Jan 1904 at age 75.2 
Burial She was buried at Grandview Cemetery in Johnson County, Texas.2
