Birth5 Jun 1870 Ann Campbell Hortenstine was born on 5 Jun 1870 in Virginia, probably in Washington County.1 
Childhood Ann grew up in the Goodson district of in Washington County, Virginia. She was the eldest daughter in a family of 12 children (which included 2 half sisters). 
Marriage29 Mar 1893 She married Martin Wharey Baker on 29 Mar 1893.3 
Cens-Sum Ann and Martin spent their married lives in Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia. They may have briefly lived in West Virginia (their daughter Clarice listed W Va as her place of birth on the 1920 census when she was 22).4,5 
  Ann's sister Susan Baker and her family also lived in Shenandoah. 
Residence  Martin and Ann's home was enumerated in a district recorded as the "Shenandoah Iron Works." 
Occupation  Martin may have been working for a railroad associated with the iron works as he was recorded as a "yard manager" in 1910 and then 10 years later as the "trainmaster for the railroad." 
Death17 Jun 1921 Ann died on 17 Jun 1921 at age 51.1 
  Three years later Ann and Martin's son, Martin Jr., also died. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. In 1920 he had been enumerated as a sailor on the U.S.S. Mississippi.
