Birth18 Oct 1881 Samuel L. Moore was born on 18 Oct 1881 in Virginia.1,3 
Devisee19 Sep 1892  Samuel's father died in 1892, leaving Samuel and his brother George to inherit the old Moore lands when they turned 21. Samuel was 10 at the time.4 
Cens-Sum  Samuel's mother continued to raise her 4 children in the family home. Samuel was enumerated with her on both the 1900 and 1910 census. In 1910 Samuel's occupation was listed as a salesman of dry goods.3,5 
Milit-Reg12 Sep 1918 On 12 Sep 1918, at the age of 36, George registered for the World War I draft. He stated that he was a farmer and provided his mother's name (Mrs. Mary Moore) as his nearest relative. Her residence was given as Lodi, Virginia.1 
Cens-192013 Jan 1920  In 1920 Samuel was enumerated as the head of the household, which included his 79 year old mother and 34 year old sister, as well as a boarder. This year Samuel's occupation was recorded as a farmer.6 
Marriage He married first Mary Byers.7 
Num Child  Samuel and Mary did not have children.7 
Marriage He married second Mary Glen Smyth.7 
  In 1930 the land Samuel and his brother George inherited from their father was sold. It had been in the Moore family since the late 1700s.8 
Cens-193012 Apr 1930 Following their marriage Samuel and Mary lived in Johnson County, Tennessee. The 1930 census enumeration stated that 41 year old Samuel was living on a farm on Cold Springs Rd. which he was renting for $25 a month. He and Mary Glenn had been married about 4 years. Their eldest child, 2 year old Emma was also listed.9 
Death10 Feb 1958 Samuel died on 10 Feb 1958 at age 76.7 
Burial He was buried at Shouns Cemetery in Mountain City, Johnson County, Tennessee.7
