Birth1873 Mary J. Buchanan was born in 1873 in Virginia.2 
Childhood1880  Mary's childhood was spent with her parents and siblings in Smyth County, Virginia. 
Migration1885  When Mary was about 12 her parents moved the family in Atchison County, Missouri. Mary's father reportedly died there a few years later and about 1891 her mother again moved the family, this time across the Missouri River to Nemaha County, Nebraska.3 
Education  There Mary was recorded on the county school census in 1892 (age 18) and 1893 (19).4 
Death1930 Mary died in 1930.2 
Burial She was buried at Sheridan Cemetery in Auburn, Nemaha County, Nebraska.2
