FatherJames Kincannon Smyth1 b. 16 Feb 1810, d. 30 Oct 1887
MotherIsabella Breckenridge Clark1 b. 1 Apr 1821, d. 30 Apr 1900
Death  Martha Smyth died young, probably in Washington County, Virginia.1
Martha may have been the child referred to in the writings of Rachel Smyth Scott who stated, when writing about her experiences with death as a child and about the diptheria epidemic that seized the community in December of 1861, "Later my uncle's little daughter, Martha, died." Martha's mother, Isabella Clark and Rachel's mother were sisters. Their fathers were cousins. However, it is also possible Rachel was referring to Martha, daughter of John S. Smyth and Elizabeth Howard who died in 1855.2
