Birth24 Sep 1848 Thomas Marshall Moffett was born on 24 Sep 1848 in Freedom Township, Carroll County, Illinois.1 
Moth-Death  Thomas was 6 years old when his mother died in 1855. His father remarried the following summer. 
Cens-186014 Jun 1860  The 1860 census for Freedom township recorded 12 year old Thomas with his father Abram (43) and his stepmother Caroline (25). Also present were Thomas's sisters Isabella (18), Mary E. (13), Elizabeth (8) and Evadney (6).2 
Cens-18701870  By 1870 Thomas's father had left the farm and moved into the town of Lanark. Thomas had also settled in Lanark but was living in the home of A. Shumway, a druggist. Thomas worked as an apothecary's assistant.3 
Marriage28 Sep 1876 He married Henrietta Weed, daughter of John Weed and Sarah Landis, on 28 Sep 1876 in Lyons, Iowa.1 
  After their marriage Thomas and Henrietta remained in Lanark for a few years where Thomas continued to work in a local drug store. However in the early 1890s they joined Thomas's older brother Francis, who had moved to Grundy County, Iowa after the Civil War. The two men opened a drug store in Grundy Center which they operated for some years.4,5,6 
Cens-19009 Jun 1900  However both men left Grundy Center before 1900. Thomas and Henrietta returned to Illinois, again settling in Lanark. Thomas continued to work as a pharmacist while the couple rented a home on Prairie Street.7 
Death4 Jul 1901 Thomas died of pneumonia on 4 Jul 1901 in Lanark, Carroll County, Illinois, at age 52.8 
Burial He was buried at Lanark Cemetery in Carroll County.8
