Birth24 Jul 1843 David Beattie Ryburn was born on 24 Jul 1843 in Virginia.2 
Military15 Mar 1862  David enlisted as a private in Company D of the 1st Virginia Cavalry on 15 Mar 1862 at Abingdon. He joined the company on April 1st.3 
Death2 Nov 1862 David died on 2 Nov 1862 near Waterloo Bridge according to his compiled service record.4 
  A notice in the Friday, Nov. 14th issue of the Abingdon Virginian, stated: "While the army was falling back from the Shenandoah Valley last week, several skirmishes occurred between Stuart's cavalry and the advanced forces of the enemy, in which several casualties occured from this county. We have heard of the following: David Ryburn (son of Jas O. Ryburn) mortally wounded and left in the hands of the enemy."5
