Birth17 Mar 1772 Josiah Nichol was born on 17 Mar 1772 in Fahan Parish, County Donegal, Ireland.2 
Marriage19 Apr 1797 He married Eleanor Ryburn, daughter of Mathew Ryburn and Jane Beattie, on 19 Apr 1797 in Washington County, Virginia.3,4,5,6 
 He was 25 and she was 15. 
 Sometime after the birth of their second child Eleanor and Josiah moved to Knox County, Tennessee where they remained for several years during which time Josiah formed a friendship with Andrew Jackson, who was serving as a Superior Court Judge [later President Jackson]. However, by the time Eleanor and Josiah's son Charles was born in the fall of 1805 the family had settled in Nashville, [Davidson County] Tennessee where they raised a large family and were influential members of the growing community.7,8 
Death31 May 1833 Josiah died of cholera on Friday, 31 May 1833 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, at age 61.9,10,11 
Burial He was buried in the Old City Cemetery in Nashville.10,12
