| | Blake and Mildred settled in Kingsport, Tennessee following their marriage. However with the entrance of the United States into WWII Blake was called to serve with the US Army in Europe. During this time Mildred returned to her parent's home at Glade Spring with the couple's young son James.
Following the war years Blake, Mildred and Jim resettled in Kingsport. Mildred was an active member of her Garden Club, Dixie Study Club and Virginia Club. She also enjoyed catering wedding receptions and was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church of Kingsport. Mildred had an abiding love of family and a special affection for her granddaughters. |
