Research Comment:

Mary's father wrote his will in Feb. 1808. He remembered the children of his deceased daughters Jane and Mary but did not specifically name them. I have not identified Mary and James' children. John Hutton added a codicil to his will in which he left linen cloth to his two granddaughters. The codiicl also mentions Maty [or Mary] and Jane in a way that may have inferred they were the two granddaughters.1

This deed, dated 8 Nov. 1810 and recorded 21 Nov. 1810, contained a release of interest in 15 acres of land signed by 8 of John Hutton's children (and/or their husbands) in favor of their brother Leonard. John Hutton purchased a tract of land in 1795 from George Gamble and then sold it to Leonard in 1797. Later it was discovered that the original surveyor mistakenly omitted a 15 acre section of the tract from his survey.
