Edward Hutton of Washington Co., VA

- to sons Francis and Arthur Hutton my plantation on which I now live containing 144 acres, more or less, with the rents, issues and profits thereof

- to sons Francis and Arthur my 4 slaves, Ann, Mary, Eliza and Lewis to be equally divided between them or sold and the proceeds equally divided between them

- to the children of my daughter Jane Hubble, $400 to be equally divided amongst them and to my granddaughter Fanny Hutton, I give and bequeath $400, and to my daughter Polly Buchanan $350

- all my slaves and other personal estate not devised above may be sold at public sale, excepting such of my personal property as my executors may think proper to

retain for the use and benefit of my two sons Francis and Arthur

- all that remains of my estate after paying my just debts, funeral expenses, expenses of administration and the legacies specified above, I give to my sons Francis and Arthur to be equally divided between them, having heretofore given to my sons John and Edward Hutton, and my daughter Susannah Bishop all that I intended out of my estate; I leave to each of them one dollar.

- if either of my sons Francis or Arthur should decease before they arrive to lawful age, the one surviving shall inherit all that I have devised to them both

- I hereby appoint my friend James Porterfield, executor of this my last will and testament

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of July 1839
