Catherine Hanby, Washington Co., Virginia

- just debts be paid

- slave Hiram to son Jonathan (I would set free but laws of VA would not allow him to remain in the state and he does not want to leave); at Jonathan’s death Hiram not to be sold to anyone not of his choosing

- slave Nancy to be permitted to live and serve whichever of my children whom she may from time to time choose to live with and serve, without demanding any compensation except comfortable clothing, payment of taxes, etc.

- tract of land on Reedy Cr. road in Washington Co. purchased from Abram Bradley and on which my son Peter S. Hanby died, as follows viz:
     - grandson William, son of Peter S. Hanby deceased that part of said land devised to him by his father to be managed for him as directed by the will of Peter S. Hanby deceased. The remainder of said land I give to Marion W. and Sallie Hanby daughters of my son Peter. If either dies without issue her share reverts to other sister. If Marion survives her brother William she shall be the sole heir of his interest in the above named land. Except lastly that Catherine widow of my son Peter S. Hanby deceased shall be entitled to one third of the proceeds of the above named land during her widowhood.

- to son Jonathan T. Hanby the tract of land on which I now live lying on Abram’s Creek in Washington Co., VA; also all my interest in a tract known as the Burks place adjoining my home place and being the same land conveyed to me and my son Jonathan by Abram Bradley deceased, And further I will to my son Jonathan my slaves Henry, Mariah and her two children Louisa and William.

- to Samuel Fulkerson as Trustee, my slaves Hannah and her child Edward, and Mary daughter of my slave Nancy together with their increase to go and remain in the possession of my daughter Sarah D. Baltzell during her life, free from the control of her husband David Baltzell and not liable in any manner for his debts or contracts. And at the death of my daughter Sarah I give the said slaves and their increase to the children of my said daughter Sarah.

- executor either to take my slave Martha at her just evaluation or to let my grandson by marriage William P. Wallace have her at said valuation to be paid in 12 months after my death as follows:
     - 2/3 to my granddaughter Marion Hanby and 1/3 to remain in hands of exec for the benefit of my grandson William Hanby; if he dies without issue value goes to sister Marion

- executors to sell all other property and pay debts. Remainder to Samuel Fulkerson to be held in trust for sole use of dau Sarah Baltzell

- out of the above funds pay remaining heirs Polly Cutter and the children of my son James S. Hanby $1 each

- son Jonathan Hanby executor
