I John Beatie of Washington Co…….. give and bequeath as follows:

- to beloved wife Ellinor 100 pounds in cash to be paid six months after my decease; also choice of one horse or mare, her saddle and bridle, all her wearing apparel, two feather beds with their furniture, all the linen in house, her choice of two cows, her choice of six sheep; also Negro woman [ ]nogh, and as much shelf and kitchen furniture as she shall choose forever.

Also dwelling house during her natural life, and bread and meat for herself and said Negro together with wood and fires put on in a commodious manner; also green and fodder for stock and flock, and sufficiency of Flax seed saved for her each year to be done by my son William out of the benefits of the estate I now live on during her natural life. Also my large Bible

- to son William the tract of land I now live on, farming utensils, two Negro men, Peter and Joshua, all work horses except those wife chooses, also residue of household and kitchen furniture

- tract of woodland in Washington Co. adjoining lands of Jonas Smith and Francis Beatie being part of the original tract I now live on and a smaller tract adjoining the latter and lands of James Kincannon to be sold by executors in order to discharge legacies.

- to daughter Agnes Dysart fifty pounds

- to two granddaughters Ellinor and Martha Gilmore six pounds, 10 shillings each to purchase them saddles and bridles two years after my decease

- to son David twenty pounds

- to son in law David Sawyers twenty pounds

- sons Davis and William to divide wearing apparel

- to son William grain, hay and stock of hogs

- after debts, funeral charges, and legacies are paid, surplus to be divided among children: two sons, David and William, and four sons in law, David Sawyers, James Logan, James Dysart, and Mathew Ryburn in equal shares, except son William to receive only one half as much as others

- appoint sons in law James Dysart and Mathew Ryburn executors
