Rachel Edmiston of Washington Co., Virginia being weak in body but of sound mind…

1. daughter Hannah Kerr my Negro girl Rose who is to stay with her mother Polly one year after my death. Hannah Kerr to pay my son David one third of Rose’s value. Rose to remain with Hannah during Hannah’s life and then with Hannah’s husband James Kerr if he survives her. Following the death of both, Rose and her issue to grandson Moses Kerr.

4. daughter Nancy Robinson my sadle [sic] and 1 bed tick

5. daughter Rachel Robinson 1 bed tick

6. clothes to be equally divided among daughters Gean [sic][,] Betsy[,] Nancy[,] and Rachel

7. son David’s daughter Rachel my spinning wheel

8. son John Edmiston one Negro boy name Tobe and one Negro boy named Jacob

9. son John one Negro woman named Poly while he remains unmarried; if he marries Poly may choose her master among the following: my son David, my son John, my son-in-law Alexr Robinson[,] John Robinson[,] David Robinson[,] Mitchel Robinson. Whoever gets Poly is to pay the other 5 one sixth of her value. Poly is not to be taken from her husband entirely.
