Birth24 Sep 1900 Carter White Ryburn was born on 24 Sep 1900 in Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia.1 
Residence Carter lived for several of his early years with his grandparents Whitley and Mary (Molly) Ryan Ryburn in the big white house (now torn down) on Forest Hill Drive in Glade Spring.3 
Cens-19101910  When the 1910 census was recorded he was enumerated as a 9 year old living in his parent's household.4,2 
Education Carter was educated in Emory and Henry College, Washington County, Virginia.1 
Occupation He was was employed as both a farmer and a clerk.1,5 
Marriage8 Oct 1924 He married Emma Leta Dunn, daughter of Harry Buchanan Dunn and Mattie May Gookin, on 8 Oct 1924 in Bristol, Tennessee.1 
  They were 4th cousins. 
Residence1928 Following the death of Emma's father, she and Carter moved from Glade Spring back to the old Dunn log home just outside of town. Their three youngest children, Jack, Ralph and Carolyn were all born in the house. Emma and Carter lived there until about 1948.6,5 
Residence1948  After the war they moved to a house on Forest Hill Drive in Glade Spring, across the street from the home Carter's parents had owned. Here they lived until their deaths in the 1980s.6 
Death24 Nov 1982 Carter died on 24 Nov 1982 at age 82.7,1 
Burial26 Nov 1982 He was buried on 26 Nov 1982 in Mt. Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, Virginia, with the Rev. Charles Elyea presiding.8
