This sampler, created in 1828, was probably the work of Isabella Breckenridge Clark (age 15). It is possible, but less likely, to have been stitched by her younger cousin Isabella Breckenridge Clark (age 7). The sampler is part of a permanent collection at the Fields Penn Museum in Abingdon. The museum acquired the piece through a third party who did not know its history3

Liberty Hall was founded in the early 1860s by Rev. James Robinson Keys. Originally a one room school house it expanded over the years. This photo of the school and its students, shared by Steve Deitz, was taken in 1907. Other individuals who headed the school in its early days include Thomas Hughes and William J. Edmondson18
The photo contains such great detail I have cropped it into 3 sections and enlarged each one. Please let me know if you can identify any faces. The expressions are wonderful!
Here is another Liberty Hall photo taken about the same time. This appears to include only the male students. Again, there is an overall photo, followed by 2 close-ups. Notice the expression on the faces of the 2 little guys in the back row in the 2nd picture.... who are they?18
