Birth2 Feb 1816 James S. Logan was born on 2 Feb 1816 in Washington County, Virginia.3 
Marriage He married his first cousin Rebecca Logan, daughter of Robert Logan and Rebecca Byars.4 
Land-Sell23 Sep 1843  In 1843 James, along with his siblings, sold his interest in the 1/6 share of his grandfather William Dunn's land that had been intended for James's mother Elizabeth. The land was purchased by Jonas Smyth.5 
Cens-18506 Aug 1850  James and Rebecca lived in Washington County, Virginia in 1850 with William C. (12), Lafayette (9); Virginia (5), Eveline (4) and Jerome (1).6 
Cens-186021 Jun 1860  Sometime after 1850 James and Rebecca moved to Coffee County, Tennessee where they were enumerated with seven children, including two daughters born after 1850: Florida, age 9, and Lydia, age seven. James was farming and reported that he owned land valued at $7,000.7 
Cens-18701870  Rebecca died between 1860 and 1870. The 1870 census recorded James still living in Coffee County with his three youngest children: Jerome, 18, Florida 16 and Lydia fourteen.8 
Cens-18801 Jun 1880  He was recorded again in Coffee County in 1880. Only daughter Lydia was still at home; she married a few months later but died the following fall.9 
  Daughter Florida had married in 1874 but she too died young. 
Migration  James's son William and his daughter Eveline migrated west to Texas. James apparently joined Eveline and her family in Cooke County, Texas. 
Death18 May 1898 James died on 18 May 1898 in Texas at age 82.1 
Burial He was buried in Myra, Cooke County, Texas.4
