Marriage4 Apr 1844 She married first Andrew Buchanan Kelly, son of Andrew E. Kelly and Joanna Edmondson, on 4 Apr 1844 in Washington County, Virginia.5,6,7 
  Sarah and Andrew's wedding was a family affair. Two of Sarah's sisters were already married to two of Andrew's brothers. They were all great grandchildren of Andrew Buchanan and Joanna Hay and of William Edmiston and Agnes Holmes. 
Legatee30 Jan 1846  Sarah's father William wrote his will on January 30th, 1846, just two months before his death. He left his daughter "Sally Kelly" $60 in "good trade" to make her equal to her sisters Margaret and Elizabeth. She also received an equal share of over 5,000 acres of land in Johnston County, Tennessee.2 
Cens-185021 Aug 1850  Sarah and Andrew were enumerated on the 1850 census for Washington County. There were no children listed with them. This reflects the death in 1847 of daughter Rachel at age 2, the death in 1849 of son Walter before his first birthday, and the death of a 2 day old infant born in August 1850, just 7 days before the census taker's visit.8 
Widowed  Andrew himself died a few years later. 
Marriage14 May 1856 Sarah married second John Buchanan Moore, son of Samuel William Moore and Ann Rebecca George Buchanan, on 14 May 1856 in Washington County, Virginia.3,6 
  John was a young widower with a daughter, Isabella, born in 1845. He was also the brother of Andrew Moore, who had been married to Sarah's deceased sister Bethia. Sarah and John had one child together, a son named Samuel. 
Death28 Dec 1857 Sarah died on 28 Dec 1857 at about 35 years of age.4 
Burial She was buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4 
  John died less than a year after Sarah, leaving their son to be raised by other family members.
