Birth7 Feb 1838 William Beattie Edmondson was born on 7 Feb 1838.2,1 
Cens-18604 Jul 1860  The 1860 census enumeration recorded William at age 22 living in the home of Robert B. Edmondson [his father]. Although his father was a farmer, William was employed in 1860 as a clerk.5 
Marriage25 May 1863 He married Fannie C. Dolin, daughter of Thomas Dolin and Maria (?), on 25 May 1863 in Albemarle County, Virginia.6 
Cens-18703 Oct 1870 William and Fannie farmed in Washington County, Virginia where they were enumerated on the 1870 census with 4 children: Thomas [Tomasina] 5, Nannie 4, Buchanan 3, and Willie, 2. William's widowed mother, Nancy (Beattie) Edmondson also lived with them.7 
Death10 Dec 1874 William died on 10 Dec 1874 at age 36.2 
Burial He was buried in the Edmondson family section at the Old Baptist Cemetery Annex in Washington County.2 
Residence William and Fannie lived in the brick home built by William's father near Old Baptist Cemetery. The land originally belonged to William's paternal grandmother, Margaret (Buchanan) Edmiston, who inherited it from her father Robert Buchanan. Following William's death and after her children were grown, Fannie sold the property to George A.C. Beattie Sr. (1898). In later years the home was referred to as the "old Beattie house."8
