Birth19 Nov 1889 Grace Carmack was born on 19 Nov 1889 in Washington County, Virginia.2,1 
Moth-DeathSep 1896  Grace's mother died when Grace was 6 years old. She was raised by her stepmother, Sarah Rebecca (Carpenter) Carmack. 
Marriage30 Jan 1907 She married Frank Thornburg Carpenter, son of William Patrick Carpenter and Mary Alice Broughman, on 30 Jan 1907.3 
  They were third cousins, both being great great grandchildren of William Ryburn and his wife Mary.  
Cens-191012 May 1910 Grace and Frank spent the first years of their marriage in Mercer County, West Virginia where Frank worked for the railroad. The 1910 census enumerated them living at 107 Davidson Street in Bluefield, with their 2 year old daughter, Ruby.4 
Migration In 1913, not long after the birth of their third child, Frank and Grace moved to Oklahoma City.5 
Injury  There Frank worked for the Frisco Railroad until 1916 about which time he lost his left leg in a motorcycle accident.5 
Cens-19206 Jan 1920  He then worked for some years in the grocery business in Oklahoma City where the family lived at 902 E. 6th Street. Frank's parents, who had moved to Oklahoma City from Virginia (via Texas) also lived on 6th Street.6 
Cens-193022 Apr 1930 By 1930 Frank and Grace had moved out of the city and were renting a farm in Choctaw township. Frank described himself on that years census as a "truck farmer". Their youngest daughter, Mary Frances (17), was the only child still at home. A son, James William, had died in 1921 at age 10 from diabetes.7 
Occupation1935  By 1935 Frank and Grace had moved back to Oklahoma City where Frank returned to the grocery business.8 
Residence  In the latter years of their lives they lived in Marion on the outskirts of Oklahoma City.8 
Death28 Dec 1982 Grace died on 28 Dec 1982 in Midwest City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, at age 93.1
