Marriage9 Sep 1800 He married Margaret Buchanan, daughter of Robert Buchanan and Jane Beattie, on 9 Sep 1800 with Rev. Edw. Crawford officiating.7 
  Thomas was referred to as "the agent" of the plaintiff James Beaty in an 1821 Wythe County, Virginia chancery case. James had moved to Missouri; prior to his leaving he executed a document appointing"his good friend" Thomas to serve as his attorney. Ironically Thomas also gave a deposition for the defendants in the same case. This was due to the fact that he had written the will of James Beaty's [Beattie] mother, Mary.8,9,10,11 
Fath-Death30 Jul 1822  Thomas's father, Col. William Edmiston, died in July 1822. William's will, written 11 years earlier, did not include Thomas in the distribution of his estate, however Thomas was named as one of the executors. This suggests Thomas had already received his share of his father's estate.4 
Death25 Oct 1822 Thomas died on 25 Oct 1822 at age 49.1 
Burial He was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.1 
Will-Recd19 Nov 1822 Thomas's will, written 23 Oct. 1822 (two days before his death), named his children: Robert Buchanan, Margaret Montgomery, Jane Beatty Ryburn and Eliza Kennedy Edmiston. The executors were Thomas's son Robert along with Andrew Edmiston.12 
Probate Recd2 Jan 1823  Thomas's estate was appraised on Jan. 2, 1823. The list included the usual farm animals, household items and crops. It also included a "Scotts Bible", an assortment of other books and several maps, included a map "of America".13

William Lowry, in response to a request from Mr. Draper for information on William Edmiston, contacted Wm C. Edmondson [Col. Edmiston's grandson] who provided Mr. Lowry with a list of Col.
