Will | 26 Feb 1838 | Joseph wrote his will in Washington County, Virginia, on 26 Feb. 1838. He left his wife Phebe the use of his land during her lifetime as well as one half the household and kitchen furniture. Joseph's daughter Mary Ann was to receive the other half of the furniture. Joseph asked that on his death Thomas Preston, Robert Keys and Samuel Moore divide his land into two equal lots. On the death of Joseph's wife Phebe, daughter Margaret Snodgrass was to receive the north parcel adjoining James Jones while daughter Mary Ann Redshaw was to receive the south parcel adjoining Robert Keys. The two women were to pay Joseph's son Philip Redshaw $25 each. Should Mary Ann Redshaw die without heirs, her share was to fall to Margaret Snodgrass. Joseph appointed his wife Phebe, and Moses Snodgrass as his executors.4 |
