Will14 Mar 1836  Philip Barrick wrote his will on 14 Mar 1836 in Washington County, Virginia. He left his wife Mary the use of his land during her lifetime. He also left her the livestock, and household and kitchen furniture with instructions that it be divided on her death among his 4 daughters, Mary Halfacre, Elizabeth Buchanan, Catherine Buchanan and Phebe Redshaw. Philip left his land to his grandson Solomon G. Barrick who was charged with supporting Philip and Mary. Solomon was also named executor.1
Death1837 Philip died in 1837.
Probate Recd26 Aug 1839  A settlement record filed on 25 Feb. 1839 listed distributive payments to Samuel Buchanan, Elizabeth Buchanan and Moses Snodgrass as the executor of Joseph Redshaw.
The settlement tells us that Philip's daughter Catherine married Samuel Buchanan, his daughter Elizabeth Buchanan's husband was deceased or divorced, and daughter Phoebe Redshaw's husband Joseph was also deceased.

Research Comment:

Philip's grandson Solomon Barrick was the child of Philip's daughter Elizabeth. I do not know if Elizabeth married first a Barrick and second a Buchanan or if Solomon was born out-of-wedlock.
