Marriage He married first Mariah Elizabeth Hagy, daughter of Joseph Hagy and Mary Harley.6 
Cens-185024 Aug 1850  William and Mariah were recorded on the 1850 census for Washington County with 3 children: Margaret (6), Nancy (5), and Joseph (3). Also present were 2 individuals with the last name of Hagy: William (19) and Ann (20).7 
Marriage30 Jul 1857 He married second Martha Orr McCall, daughter of Arthur McCall and Rachel Hutton, on 30 Jul 1857 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
  William was in his early 40s and Martha was in her late 20s. 
Cens-186013 Jul 1860  By 1860 William was employed as a wheelwright. William Hagy was still a member of the household and was similarily employed. The elder William owned land valued at just under $1,400 and person property of $600. The 3 children from his first marriage were also present.8 
Cens-187027 Sep 1870  William and Martha do not appear to have had children of their own. In 1870 Martha [enumerated as 50 but actually 40] and William (enumerated as Wesley, 54) were residents of Glade Spring township where William continued to work as a wheelwright. His son Joseph had also taken up the trade, as had John Aker (20) [William's nephew]. William's daughter Kate (24) was also at home.9 
  The following year Kate and John Aker married. 
WidowedSep 1877  In the fall of 1877 William was widowed for a second time when Martha died in her late 40s. 
Marriage4 Feb 1879 He married third Frances Ann Eliza (Clark) Woodside, daughter of David Clark and Sarah (?), on 4 Feb 1879 in Washington County, Virginia.10 
Cens-18801880  By 1880 William had returned to farming. At age 64 he and "Fannie" (49) shared their home with William's sister Elizabeth Williams (40). A farm hand and 3 servants completed the household.11 
Death1895 or 1907 William died in 1895 or 1907.4,12 
Burial He was buried at Old Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4
