Marriage30 Jun 1897 He married first Hattie Pearl Asbury, daughter of Mansfield Asbury and Lelia Agnes Wright, on 30 Jun 1897 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
Cens-Sum  Following their marriage Edward and Hattie made their home in Glade Spring (Washington County) with Hattie's widowed mother and Hattie's 3 brothers. Edward worked as a dry goods merchant while 2 of Hattie's brothers were employed as telegraph operators and one worked as a produce merchant. Edward and Hattie's family included 2 daughters, Lillian and Sue. A third daughter was born and died at 1 day of age in 1898.3,4 
Widowed13 Dec 1910  Hattie herself died in December 1910, leaving Edward with 2 young daughters to raise. Hattie's mother no doubt helped in this regard until her own death in 1919. 
Marriage27 Apr 1922 He married second Mattie Lee Taylor, daughter of John Lee Taylor and Roxie Ann Taylor, on 27 Apr 1922.5 
Death5 Nov 1939 Edward died on 5 Nov 1939 in Glade Spring, Washington County, at age 75.6 
Burial He was buried in the Allison-Keys square at Old Baptist Cemetery, Washington County.7
