1900  Mae's father and baby brother James both died shortly after the 1900 census was enumerated. 
Cens-191016 Apr 1910  In 1910, at the age of 20, Mae was enumerated living with her mother, brother John, and great aunt, Martha Ligon in the Glade Spring District of Washington County. Mae was employed as a school teacher at the time.4 
Marriage22 Dec 1915 She married George Graham Keys, son of Andrew Edmondson Keys and Florence H. Hutchinson, on 22 Dec 1915 in Glade Springs.3 
Cens-19201920 Following their marriage Mae and Graham lived with Mae's mother in Glade Springs. Graham was employed as a grain and seed merchant.5 
Death14 Dec 1972 Mae died on 14 Dec 1972 in Washington DC at age 82.3 
Burial She was buried at Old Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.6
